Many of the jobs of the real world apply for this rpg as well. They are jobs ranging from working in computers to hand in hand combat in the army. Everything is basically like the natural world. But along with the normal jobs there are certain unique jobs created by the author of the Get Backers. The following is a list of these made up jobs, you might say, and a description to go along with them.
Citizen
All people start out as a normal citizen, these citizens on the other hand are not so ordinary, as most have supernatural powers and just don't use them often. Usually these citizens are the one's who become a Retriever, protector, Transporter, ect....
Negotiator: A negotiator is a person who is in charge of mediating jobs between high-paying clients and retrievers, protectors, transporters and other workers. A negotiator usually is not involved in fighting and leaves the work up to the team she hires. A negotiator is allowed to deduct what ever fee she wishes from the reward given by the client to the team. The usually amount is 15%, may be larger or smaller depending on level of the negotiator.
Transporter: A transporter is a person who is hired to escort things to a certain locations. This involves making sure retrievers do not obtain the specific item or thing being transported. Most transporters are experienced in fighting and have to have a large amount of determination to handle anything a retriever may throw at them. The job of a transporter varies depending upon the client.
Protectors: Protectors are basically the same things as body guards but with a small difference. Most people who are protectors usually have some sort of supernatural or special ability. Protectors are hired to protect people and have a much higher success rate then body guards.
Retriever: Retrievers are people who are hired by negotiators or even clients themselves to get back stolen property. It is the retrievers job to get it back for the client and to deliver it safely. If he is unable to do the job, then it is canceled and noted uncompleted. Most retrievers are very quick and can get out of situations in a snap. Similar to thieves.
Disposer: Disposers are in charge of making sure things are destroyed or disposed of. They are to make sure that their item or person are completely destroyed. That includes using anything necessary to get rid of something. Disposers are often thought of as spies and assassins, but are actually very different.
Smythe
Also known as a Blacksmith, These people mostly work in there shop producing items, weapons, and weapon upgrades to sell to customers. There skills vary and some can even make legendary weapons. As well as work in there own shop, they can also take on a side job for some extra money to help run the shop, or for there own pocket. Smythes keep approximately 60% of earnings from sales, the rest goes toward the materials used, and keeping the shop from being closed down.
